PNCA painting exhibition marks Kashmir Day

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) opened up an art exhibition on Wednesday, displaying masterpieces by 25 leading artists of the country in connection with the Kashmir Day.

Scores of people visited at the PNCA and appreciated the artists who painted and drew sketches of the people who had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Kashmir.


The exhibition that will remain open till February 10, has been organised by the Ministry of National Heritage and Integration in collaboration with the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day. To pay tribute to the freedom fighters of Kashmir, one masterpiece of each artist has been put on display in the exhibition, highlighting atrocities by the Indian forces in the valley on innocent Kashmiris.

The tainted faces and bodies of Kashmiris, scenic landscape occupied by Indian forces, and the picturesque valleys were beautifully depicted in the artwork.

PNCA Director Tauqir Nasir said Kashmiris had been fighting a war against a despotic power for the last 65 years and sacrificed millions of lives for their freedom. 

“Pakistanis and Kashmiris will continue to raise their voice against the atrocities of India in Kashmir, and keep stressing upon the international community to play its role to convince India to give Kashmiris the right of self-determination in accordance with the resolutions passed by the UN,” he said. 

Nasir said the PNCA had arranged the exhibition as a part of a string of activities to mark the Kashmir Day on February 5. 

Leading artists who presented their work in the show included Mansoor Rahi, Hajra Mansoor, Saleema Hashmi, Muniba Zubari, Asma Mahmood, Qudoos Mirza, Sardar Muhammad, Rahat Saeed, Farina Alam, Musarrat Naheed Iman, Humaira Ijaz, Afshar Malik, Arif Minhas, Darwash Sadi, Ali Raza, Shahbez Malik, Anwar Saeed, Masood Hameed, Aftab Zafar, Jehzaib Malik, Ghulam Qasim Khishkhali, Abdul Raheem Abbasi, Abbas Shah and Ghulam Abbas Khashkali.
